Partnering to Adapt and Implement Evidence-Based Tobacco Control Interventions: Two Lessons in "Fit and Fidelity"

Seminar Summary
In February we put out a call for abstracts in search of your “success stories” highlighting partnerships that helped to move evidence-based interventions into practice. Congratulations to this month’s presenters who were selected to share insights on a top public health priority: smoking and tobacco control.
This cyber-seminar highlights two evidence-based tobacco control programs and the strong partnerships that fostered their development, implementation, and sustainability. The first will describe an effort to adapt Enough Snuff, a self-help smokeless tobacco cessation program, in rural Northwest Pennsylvania. The second presentation will explore the cultivation of successful community-academic partnerships to deliver tobacco control services to pregnant and postpartum women in high risk communities in New York City and Long Island.
Both programs demonstrate how evidence-based tobacco control interventions can be adapted and implemented with “fit and fidelity” at the community level to meet the specific needs of high-risk populations. Please join us as we discuss this important topic and see what work is being done at the local level to move tobacco control research into practice.
