Using Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. to Move Research into Practice
March 23, 2010, 2:00–3:00 p.m. ET

Seminar Summary

Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. was developed as a web portal to assist with moving research into practice. The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) aims to disseminate the Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. tools to health program planners in three Massachusetts communities—Boston, Lawrence, and Worcester—via a Community-Based Participatory Research project funded by the National Cancer Institute called PLANET MassCONECT. This cyber-seminar will highlight the findings of an exploratory analysis of perceptions of evidence-based programs (EBPs) in community-based organizations as part of the development of the PLANET MassCONECT project. In addition to learning about the MassCONECT project, new tools that have been added to the Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T. site will be previewed along with planned enhancements that will be added to the site in 2010.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand challenges related to moving research into practice in a community setting.
  • List the different steps for developing comprehensive cancer control programs.
  • Explore new and enhanced tools on Cancer Control P.L.A.N.E.T.
  • Discuss how P.L.A.N.E.T. can be used to enhance moving research into practice.
